Assyrian Church Customs and the Murder of Mar Shimun

Assyrian Church Customs and the Murder of Mar Shimun, by Surma d’bait Mar Shimun was originally published in 1920 with the second edition in 1983. This short account covers two main subjects, the first of which is the Church of the East and its customs, designed for a reader who is not familiar with Assyrians or the Church of the East and explains various tenets, including for example the Sacraments. Separately, though painful to recount, the conditions and political circumstances are explained and which that led to the assassination of the Patriarch, Mar Benyamin Shimun, Catholicos Patriarch, Lady Surma’s brother.
