The Book of Marganitha (The Pearl) was written by Mar O’Dishoo, Metropolitan of Suwa (Nisidin) and Armenia, in the 4th century. In it, he summarized the teachings and faith of the Church of the East, expounding on five main tenets: Explaining God’s existence, the creation, Christian dispensation, the truth of Christianity and the Sacraments. Originally written in Aramaic, and translated to English by His Holiness Mar Eshai Shimun, Catholicos Patriarch of the East was first published in 1965, then reprinted with amendments in 2007, expanding readership by explaining the faith of the Church of the East and clarifying its Christology.
